Volkssport Types

The main focus of the association's activities is Volkssport Walking. Here, in addition to the participation award, there is a distance award.

Organizers often offer Volkssport cycling and swimming events, usually in addition to walking. They are accepted for the participation award. In a few countries there is also a distance award for these Volkssport types, e.g. cycling in Germany and Japan, swimming in Japan.

The Volkssport sports of aqua walking, cross-country skiing or snowshoe walking, ice skating and inline skating are more rarely found in the organizers' offerings. These sports are also approved for the IVV participation award.

Major international events sometimes attract with additional demonstration sports, e.g. archery, climbing, canoeing.
